This was a work Book Club choice, which I was pretty excited for because this was actually on my Christmas List as well (I thoroughly enjoyed Outliers also by Malcolm Gladwell - another work Book Club book). I didn’t want to buy it for myself because the reviews were a bit mixed on how Gladwell comes across with some of his statements…

Any who, I think that if you’ve read another Malcolm Gladwell book and liked it, then you’ll appreciate this one as well - although I wouldn’t make this your first one. This one focuses on how we perceive, judge, and misread strangers. It brings to light some instances in particular, Sandra Bland, Jerry Sandusky, Brock Turner, Amanda Knox, social experiments, etc. He compares and contrasts the differing opinions and measures taken in order to show that humans ‘default to truth’ when it comes to strangers.

Although I don’t technically agree with some of Gladwell’s opinions on the actual matters, he makes valid points and, much like his other books, really makes you think. I say read it (with an open mind).
