“Anotha one.” - me in regards to Book of the Month

I didn’t like this book either. My recurring nightmare is plane crashes but for some reason I am fascinated with plane crash movies and it doesn’t make any sense. This book intrigued me and let me down.

Edward and his family are moving from New York City to California for his mom’s new job. The plane crashes and he is the only one to survive. The story is a back and forth of the plane ride and his life currently. I think that was part of the issue. I just wanted the plane crash to happen all at once and it dragged on too long.

The present-day part of the book was hard to read because he wasn’t depressed and he wasn’t doing much. He goes to live with his aunt and uncle that can’t seem to have kids of their own. He befriends the girl across the street and starts his new life. It dragged and dragged and dragged on. They incorporate some of the people from the plane a bit later throughout the book but it’s just not great closure for the reader.

There was so much potential for this story and it was all lost. If I was the type of person who could stop reading a book mid-way through, I would have done that with this book. It was that bad.
